H2@School hydrogen competition for students

H2@School

In the H2@School project, the Research Center for Energy Networks and Energy Storage and the Landesagentur für Energie und Klimaschutz (LENK) are working on a hydrogen competition for young people from the 8th grade of all types of schools. The competition will be held in the 2023/24, 2024/25 and 2025/26 school years and aims to familiarize young people with the opportunities and challenges of the energy transition.

The competition is structured in two stages. In the first phase, theoretical tasks on the topics are solved. The knowledge gained in this way is then used for an initial transfer, for example in the form of an energy system based on hydrogen, which is outlined for their own school. Here, both the advantages and disadvantages of the new technologies are highlighted so that the students can form a comprehensive picture. In the second phase, the ten best teams will be provided with hydrogen test boxes, which will be used to put theory into practice.

The tasks and accompanying materials for the competition are be developed by FENES. Together with LENK, the participating groups are guided through the competition. The highlight of the competition is the annual awards ceremony in Regensburg, where the most successful groups are honored.
